Friday Fitter Feature: Yudai Watanabe - Mitsuboshi Fit Services

Today’s Friday Fitter feature takes us to the East Asian island of Japan. Situated in the northwest Pacific Ocean, Japan is known worldwide for its traditional arts, distinctive architecture and beautiful varying landscapes that are best enjoyed from the seat of a bicycle

Yudai Watanabe has a been a bike fitter for over seven years. During that time, he has helped hundreds of riders understand the importance of bike fit. Yudai’s business Mitsuboshi Fit Services, also known as “Three Star Fit Service”' focuses on three main things: eliminate the rider’s anxiety, help a rider achieve their goals, and become someone they can trust to give advice on cycling life.

Yudai tells us a little bit about himself and why he trusts Retül over any other bike fit brand to help riders find their optimal position on the bike.

Tell Us a Little About Yourself

After retiring from DH [Downhill] and 4X [“four-cross”] racing, I worked at a bike shop where I developed skills in bike assembly, sales, coaching, and fitting. Currently I work as a professional fitter in Specialized Shinjuku and Specialized Ginza. In addition, I provide fitting, mentoring, and training sessions as an independent personal cycling trainer. Types of bikes I specialize in fitting are Road, Mountain, Time trial, and Track.

What Is Your Favorite Thing About Working with Retül?

Retül Fit has an excellent fitting process and can precisely quantify the desired position of the rider.

The assessment process, which is what I focus on, allows me to summarize physical characteristics that the rider may not know about. The results of the assessment can be used to explain if the rider is not getting the position they want, or shows unexpected on-bike movements.

The data measured by 3D motion capture and Zin tool is highly repeatable and accurate, so I can compare the values of CDA and Watt to confidently fit TT bikes.
