Mirinda Carfrae with Retul's Mat Steinmetz in Boulder
August 30, 2010
Rinny understands the performance benefit of improving her bike position in order to improve on last years 2nd place finish in Kona. Retul's Mat Steinmetz has been working with Carfrae on this task over the past year.
The process began after Kona 2009 when it was aparent that changes were needed. The first order of business was getting Rinny on the right size bike. She is now riding Cannondale's size 47 Slice with 650 wheels. Since then Steinmetz has been making small adjustments every few months, as Carfrae does not adapt quickly to changes on the bike.
The position you see here, is what will probably be her final position come October. However, further improvements are needed and the process will continue into 2011.
"At least there is room for improvement and I've got something to look forward to down the road...I'm still in the early stages of my career." says Carfrae.
