Kevin Collington Dialed for ClearwaterKevin Collington stopped by Retul Studios in Denver this week to get dialed for the upcoming 70.3 World Championships in Clearwater, FL. Collington took a 6th place finish at last year’s race. What took place during Collington’s fit? Todd Carver shares what changes he made: Kevin’s frame had to be replaced due to a crack. He put his parts back on the new frame and it never felt quite right. He had a good ride at the Chicago Triathlon in August, but his left hip muscle locked up on him. I simply put him back in the same position we had him in for Clearwater last year. In the end, the problem in Chicago seemed to stem from the fact that his new fork's steerer tube was significantly shorter than his last. We had 30mm of spacer stack under the stem last year, a Thompson 90mm/-10 deg. So, for this year, we had 22.5mm of spacer stack due to the aggressive cut on the steerer tube. We had to make up the extra drop by using a Ritchey 90mm/-6 deg . This then allowed us to get his saddle height back up to where it had "slipped" from, 7-8mm. We also moved his saddle forward 7-8mm.
